Dr. Maurer grew up in Tucson, Arizona and came to Flagstaff in 1998 to attend Northern Arizona University. He graduated with a Bachelors degree in Microbiology in 2003 and moved on to the University of Southern California where he was accepted to dental school. Dr. Maurer was awarded several accolades for outstanding achievement in Chemistry throughout his academics. Upon graduating from USC in 2007, Dr. Maurer traveled through Australia before returning to Flagstaff in 2008 and joining the team of providers at Flagstaff Dental Arts. Shelby Gonzales

I was born and raised here in Flagstaff, AZ. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene from Northern Arizona University in 2013 and began working for Flagstaff Dental Arts that summer. The following year, I married my high school sweetheart and we now have three beautiful children who keep us on our toes! We are very involved with our family and enjoy spending time outdoors. Flagstaff is home and I love the opportunity to provide dental care for the people of this wonderful community.

My name is Carly and I am thrilled to be part of the team here at Flagstaff Dental Arts! Originally from Georgia, I traveled West and spent some time in Colorado and Montana before ending up in Flagstaff. I fell in love with Arizona and decided not to go any further! It’s been an honor to be a part of this great community since 2005 and also an NAU alumni since 2014 when I graduated from hygiene school. Even though my husband and I grew up in the same part of Georgia, we met here, fell in love and got married. Together we love to ski, travel, go boating, hiking, camping, biking… if it’s outdoors, we like to spend time doing it!
Rebekah Hwang

Hey everyone! I’m Rebekah! I grew up in Flagstaff but was born in Southern California. I graduated from NAU in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene, plus minors in Biology and Psychology. One of the highlights of my time in the program was going on a medical mission trip to Guatemala, where I got to work with some of my classmates to provide dental care in rural areas. It was such a great experience with so many memories I will hold forever! Throughout my career I hope to continue going on medical mission trips when I can! I love helping my patients feel confident about their smiles and educating them on how oral health connects to overall wellness. Outside of work, I enjoy photography, hanging out with my friends, golf, and finding new restaurants to try!
Sarah Marsitto

I am from Minnesota but grew up in Phoenix and attended NAU after high school. My Associates Degree is in Interpreting for the Deaf which I acquired through Phoenix College in 1996. I have been in Flagstaff permanently since 1999, went into dentistry in 2001 and have been with Flagstaff Dental Arts since 2010. I have 2 daughters who are just beginning to live independent lives and explore where life is going to take them. I enjoy a wide variety of activities such as traveling, water sports, hiking, volunteering and performing arts.
Zoe Strayer

My name is Zoë and I was born and raised in Flagstaff. Flagstaff Dental Arts was my very first job and I started working here in 2012, becoming Dr. Maurer’s assistant a couple years in. This job definitely got me out of my shell and I found that I loved meeting and getting to know all the interesting people as well as the amazing office fam I get to work with! I love to spend my free time traveling with my friends, anywhere from Colorado and New York to England and Greece! I love mountain bike riding with my dad, baking and any spare moment you can catch me reading. I also play the piano and violin for church and I like to pretend that I can paint 🙂
Lauren Brown Gaytan

My name is Lauren and I grew up in Mesa, Arizona before moving to Flagstaff to study the cello at Northern Arizona University with Dr. Mary Ann Ramos. I graduated in May 2022 with a Bachelor’s in Music Performance. I entered the dental field in 2023 working at an orthodontic office before joining the team at Flagstaff Dental Arts. Outside the office, I teach cello at the Flagstaff School of Music and perform with my friends in the Mushuk String Trio. In my spare time I enjoy collecting comic books and spending time with my two cats.

Hello, I’m Amanda. I’ve been working here at Flagstaff Dental Arts since 2021. I was born in Los Angeles, California and raised here in Flagstaff. I have four beautiful, amazing kiddos. When I’m not working, I’m spending time with them and love every minute of it! Our most favorite thing to do together is watch Harry Potter while eating Chinese food!
